Craft Fair Fun!

I had three craft fairs this holiday season and I must say that things went very well. People loved my creations, and I feel so proud and happy. It is just so refreshing to not talk about Math for a change (that's what I teach), and to listen to people telling me that my products are beautiful. Overall it was a lot of fun! I am definitely looking forward to doing more craft fairs next year.

Here is a picture of my table...

I also had my very first custom order from a customer. One lady came to my table and asked me if I would make a cake (made of paper) for her birthday on December 12. It is a very rare date (12-12-12) and she is turning 56, which means that she was born in 1956. I agree that those numbers are pretty rare and special so she definitely should celebrate. She wanted a holiday theme, however, so this is what I came up with...

It is a paper cake with 12 slices (of course!!!), decorated with a holiday theme. I found this cute candy cane stamp at Michaels and decided to stamp the covers with it.

Here's a picture of one of the slices. Love glitter paper so I covered the bottom part of the cake slice with green glitter paper, plus added a ribbon accent around the lid.

Love this part - I took some christmas ribbon and made it in to a little flower, then added a glitter button on top.

Aside from the cake she also ordered some clothespin magnets (12 of them...see the ongoing theme here?) to put inside the cake boxes.

Here's a closer look...

I am so happy she loved all of them!

This is an advertisement for my blog readers....if you guys want to order a cake like this just e-mail me a krmcrafts@gmail.com. I make these cakes for different occasions and they're $40 each. Just give me about two weeks to make one for you. The clothespin magnets are $1 each and again, I can make them according to your specifications.

Okay, gotta go to make more craft items...it's never too early to start, right? I have so many ideas in my head!

Take care, everyone!!!

Thankful...

Today's post is not crafty. I just want to express my gratitude to God for all the many blessings that He continues to give me and my family. This holiday weekend gave me a chance to stop and think about the important things in my life and the fact that I am blessed with so much. Sure there are times when I feel down and helpless, but the most important thing for me is that I have my husband and my girls to be thankful for. They don't know how much I appreciate and cherish them when I come home after a rough day at work. Their mere presence is enough to make me feel better. Thank you Lord, for giving me such a loving and wonderful family. Thank you for my dad and my sister, my relatives and my friends. Thank you for my job and the students that You've entrusted in my care. I pray that I will make a difference in their lives. Thank you for continuing to provide for our family. Lastly, thank you for always being there for me in good times and bad. I know I can always depend on you!

Halloween Birthday Party

My younger daughter had a birthday party at a local Pump It Up a couple of weekends ago. Since it was close to halloween, we decided on a halloween birthday party theme for her. Of course that made me excited because I can make different party stuff that are halloween themed. Here are some of them :

I made two of these for the center table. This is a variation of something that I saw at a local QFC. I especially like the medallions. They are very addicting to make!!!

These are her party favors. I filled them with candies and small halloween toys. I made 24 of these. I have tons of halloween paper that I got on sale last year so I used several designs. I used black clips to close them which I also decorated with different halloween ribbons from Michaels.

Here's a closer look at one of them....

I also made these...

I made them big enough so that I can put two boxes of Lemonheads in each one.

There is a funny story about these favors. I have made about 10 of them when I realized that something's not right - I put coffins and mummies together! I told my daughter about it and she said, "That's okay, Mom. We can call them MUFFINS!" Get it? Mummies and coffins together! Hahaha! Very clever!

Anyway, it was a fun birthday party and my daughter had fun with all her friends. :-)

Craft Fair Items

I am getting ready for three craft fairs this coming November, so I am crafting like crazy. I am trying to get stuff done as fast as I can, but my job, which includes checking tons of papers, is getting in the way. Hahaha!!

Love these popsicle cards!. I saw a video on Youtube that shows how to make them. I sell them in packs of five.

I love these 3x3 cards. The colors are so vibrant, and they go well together with the flower stickers from Michael's. I simply emboss the background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder to give it some texture.

Okay, got to go to make more stuff!!!

Purses

I LOVE purses...I don't know of any woman who doesn't. These paper purses are also my favorite. They're easy to make and they are very cute! I usually use these purses for gift cards, but you can also put other small items in them like lip gloss, candy, or even jewelry! Who wouldn't like that?

I got the instructions on how to make them from this video on Youtube. All you need is a 6 x 6 piece of cardstock or designer paper. If you want a bigger purse, all you need is a 12 x 12 piece of paper. There is also a video for this. Such a fun project!!

Robot Cards

I must admit I don't make a lot of cards (or other items) for boys, but when I saw these stickers at the Dollar Store, I knew I had to use them. They are so cute!

I used regular cardstock for the cards, then silver paper that I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I stamped a happy birthday greeting and added a couple of brads for a little bit more detail. Love them!!!

More name cards...

Here are two other name cards that I've done for my daughters' friends. It has become sort of a tradition for me to make these cards for their friends.

Here's one for Ashley......

...and one for Ali.

I love playing with patterns and colors for these cards. of course, I couldn't create all these letters without my trusty Cricut machine. That machine is so useful for projects like these!

Tea time!

I found a picture of these tea tins that I made a while back to give as Christmas gifts for my friends. It gave me an idea of another item I can do for some upcoming craft fairs this fall. They're pretty simple to make - I just put a band around tin containers using some designer paper, added some ribbon and a stamp of a teacup that I found at Joann's.

I get my tin containers from this website. I get the rectangular ones which are $1.04 each. The price is pretty reasonable and the shipping is not too bad either. I got this info from Kerry's Paper Crafts. Kerry's an awesome crafter. You should check out her site if you haven't done so. I get so many ideas from her blog.

Baby Shower Gift

I made this baby shower gift for my daughter's teacher who is expecting a baby girl.

I got some burp towels from Target and decided to put them inside this bucket from Michael's. I decorated it with some pink and green trim that I got from Joann's, plus some ribbon and ribbon flowers. I made the ribbon flowers myself, using regular pink polka dot ribbon, then I sewed on a green button in the middle. I love how this gift turned out!

First Birthday Party Favors

Wow! Two posts in one day!!!

These are party favors that I made for a friend's son for his first birthday. I love using milk cartons for favors, gifts, anything! I filled them with candies and small toys. I know that there are different templates out there for milk cartons, but I made this one myself. It's a bit of a pain to cut each one, but I love how they turned out.

Watch for more milk cartons in my future posts!!!

Volleyball Team Treats

I made these a while back for my daughter's volleyball team. They didn't make it to the championship, but the girls worked very hard and their skills have improved a lot. I wanted to give each girl a little treat to show that I appreciate their efforts and hard work.

I got the clothespin idea from one of my favorite blogs, JadeMingmei Designs. I think Dawn is very talented, and I love her style. Hope you guys enjoy these too!

Gift Card Holders / Goodbye Cards

Quite a few people left our school this year, and it is our tradition to give them a little gift to thank them for all they've done. Each person was given a $20 Starbucks gift card. I was assigned to make cards for them, and this is what I did.

I had to make 15 of them so I wanted something easy but beautiful at the same time. I got the idea from this video on Youtube. Luckily I had a lot of double-sided paper to use. They were done in no time!

Another Hello Kitty card...

Here's another Hello Kitty card that I made for one of my daughter's friends. It's a fairly simple one using a HK sticker, my Martha Stewart punches,Spellbinder dies, red cardstock, red polka dot paper and some bling. Love it!!!

3x3 Cards

I LOVE making 3x3 cards. They're fun and easy, and they were bestsellers at my last craft fair. That's why I am making tons of them right now. Here's one of my favorites...

I know I got the sticker and the ribbon from Michael's, but I forgot where I got the cherry paper. It was from a stash of old papers that I have.

Here's another one...LOVE the little ducky!!!

The ducky sticker is from Hobby Lobby.

Okay, got to go to make some more cards!!!!

Name Card and Purse

I know...it's been a while since I posted. There's just been a lot going on at home and at work so it's hard to find time to update my blog. I am hoping that with summer coming I can post more regularly.

Anyway about a month ago I made a card for one of my daughter's friends, Ella. Ella loves hot pink and a lot of bling so I decided to use those for her card. I think the accent of the zebra print worked as well.

Here's another picture...

Then I REALLY got into it and created this purse to put the card in. I got the idea from this video from Youtube.

This is not usually my style but I must say that I had a lot of fun creating these projects.

Till next time!!!

Hello Kitty...

I've always been a BIG hello Kitty fan ever since she came out. I remember saving my allowance so that I can buy different HK items like pencils, erasers, wallets, pencil cases, stationery, plush toys, etc. Now that I have daughters we share the same love for her and make it a point to go to the HK store every time we go to the mall.

I made this card for my daughter's friend who is also a huge HK fan. I got the idea from Beate from Splitcoast Stampers.

I will be a Hello Kitty fan FOREVER!!!

I'm back...

I know it's been a while since I've blogged - it's been crazy busy in school and at home. It doesn't mean though that I haven't been crafting. I still try to squeeze in a few minutes a day to do something crafty, or at least organize my craft room and figure out what my next project is going to be.

Today I want to share a couple of things that I did for a friend's baby shower. She is having a baby girl. I have always loved the pink and brown combination for cards, so I decided to use these colors for her shower favors. I like the idea of using Hershey nuggets for favors and gifts, and there's a ton of ideas on the internet on what to do with them. I used some ideas of my own for these...

I love my polka dot stamps from Papertrey Ink. They are very useful for different kinds of projects.

The gifts that I got her are in pink and green, so I made the card in those colors as well.

I've always wanted to make a baby carriage card, so I did. I got my inspiration from this website. I think she did a fantastic job with her card!

I hope I can blog more regularly after this....TTFN!

Let's do this...

I'm really excited to start my own blog. I have been following so many blogs for a while now and it's about time that I start my own. Crafting is a PASSION, it's a big part of my life. I enjoy the creative process and coming up with projects that I can share with family and friends. Right now I'm mostly into paper crafting, but I enjoy different kinds of crafts. I was into cross stitching for years, but when my kids came it became harder to find time to finish projects. Paper crafting takes less time, but I enjoy the process of creating just as much. I am hoping that this blog will showcase what I can do. As I said, I am new to this whole blogging thing so bear with me....I'm eager to learn and be part of a bigger crafting community.
